New NYX Purchases

18 Sep

This weekend I made an impromptu stop at Ulta and wound up buying a little more than planned – I went in without a list and it’s like buying groceries when you’re hungry (bad idea). Anyhoo, three of the items I picked up were from NYX. Now, I’ve always heard good things about NYX and I love that they’re cruelty free and have a low price point, but no one stocks them near me. So I browsed and browsed and browsed and finally decided to pick out a couple of their eyeshadows and a blush.

I decided to pick up the eyeshadows in the shades Aloha and Sparkle Cedar. They are both shimmery nude tones, but as the name implies Sparkle Cedar has quite a bit more sparkle to it. Aloha is a cool toned shimmery shade that looks very smooth and natural on my skin. Sparkle Cedar is a bit more yellow and glittery. Both are lovely, understated colors that I think are going to be great with browns, greens, and purples during fall and winter.

I also grabbed up one of their blushes in the shade Dusty Rose. I though the shade was so pretty in the store, but the name threw me off. Dusty Rose just sounds like something my grandmother would have worn. I couldn’t decide if I should get it or not, but my mother (ever the enabler) said she would take it if I didn’t like it – And I am so glad she convinced me to pick it up. It’s a lovely matte medium pink shade that is very pigmented. You have to be very careful with this shade if you’re fair-skinned like I am, because it is very easy to over do it with this blush. With a light dusting of this shade though, my cheeks are flushed and glowing.

Overall, I am extremely impressed with the NYX items I picked up and I am looking forward to trying more of their products. Since they are so affordable, I do see myself picking up many more NYX products in future.

Tell me, what are your favorite NYX products?
