MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection Beauty Powder in Forever Marilyn

25 Oct

For the last product I picked up from the Marilyn Monroe collection I thought I would would show you all the product I was least likely to buy, but have been enjoying the most. When I was perusing this collection, I never even looked twice at this beauty powder. I wasn’t really sure how I would use it and didn’t think it was anything all that special. That was until the makeup artist at the MAC counter tried it on me. Now I have to say that I am a bit obsessed with finding the perfect highlighter. I find many of them to be too sparkly or too sheeny, so when she showed this one to me I was floored. This powder isn’t sparkly at all and it’s just enough lighter than my skin tone to create a highlight without it looking obvious. It gives my skin a sort of soft glow that actually reminds me a lot of old Hollywood actresses like Marilyn Monroe. I think this powder works beautifully on fair skin tones like mine, but I also think it would work on darker tones as well. All in all I am totally in love with this product and I really think it is the stand out product in the line.

What is your favorite highlighter? Would you have picked this product up immediately or passed it by like I was going to?

MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection Eyeshadow: Preferred Blonde

15 Oct

Ok I know that my blog has recently been overtaken by MAC products, but I’m trying to get these posts up before the Marilyn Monroe collection is gone in case any of you were considering buying some of the products. With that said, lets move on to the second to last product I picked up from this collection – an eyeshadow. Now this purchase was not planned, but after swatching it at the counter I could not pass it up. This eyeshadow is described as a pale champagne beige on the MAC website and has a veluxe pearl finish. It, to me, is a perfect highlighting eyeshadow for my skin tone. It’s pale, but not too white, and it is very reflective. I’ve been using this shade in the inner corner of my eye or as an all over color on lazy days, and I have been absolutely loving it. It’s not a shade that I think would be hard to duplicate, but I loved the shade and the packaging so I went ahead and picked it up from this collection. I think it would be a great choice if you are looking for a new shimmery champagne shade for fall and winter.

Have you gotten anything from the Marilyn Monroe collection? What’s your favorite highlighting eyeshadow?

MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection Blush: The Perfect Blush

8 Oct

Next up in the line of products I purchased from the Marilyn Monroe collection is a blush in the shade The Perfect Blush. This gorgeous blush is a matte formulation, which is actually my favorite formulation because it is so versatile. The MAC website describes the color as neutral pink beige and I actually think that is pretty accurate. It’s a very pale shade that definitely is best for the fair-skinned ladies among us. I tried it on my mom, who has a deeper olive-toned skin color, and you could’t really even see it on her. On my skin, however, this shade is just a gorgeous neutral flush of color. I have very rosy cheeks naturally, so this blush is great because it kind of plays off of that rosiness and looks lovely without looking overdone (which is a problem I have with darker blushes). Because this shade is very neutral, I also think I will look great with a bold eye or lip. I wore it the other night with a dark smokey eye and I got so many compliments on my skin. Overall, I think this shade is a must have if you’re fair-skinned, but if you don’t you could skip it without hesitation.

Do you like neutral blushes? Have you tried this one?
